Yes, that is indeed Col. Sanders in front of KFC in Japan, dressed as a maid.

I came across a similar photo while looking at a Japanese snack review blog. On the same day, one of my friends PMed me a link to a photo of the Colonel in yet another costume. I knew I had to delve more into the matter, so I simply Googled “KFC Japan”. The results brought me… such great joy.

I can understand them dressing him up in a happi to add cheer during certain occasions like festivals…

The watermelon prop is a nice touch. Going by that and the yukata, this must be from around the time of the Summer Festival.

I cannot imagine what time of year would be appropriate for friendly neighborhood Spider-Colonel. But I am not complaining.
