From VOCA★FUSION yesterday! The best part was just hanging out with friends and making new ones :DIn this photo: Viospace (Kaito), Jesuke (Gakupo), Charmie (SeeU), Aki (Len), me (Luka’s nameless ex-boyfriend in Just Be Friends — hahahaha), Kat (Luka), Lunaru (Hagane Miku)
Kat and I looked through a lot of (synthetic) flower shops to look for ones that looked like in the original illustrations for the Just Be Friends video. We were both very happy with how it all turned out.
It was also such a joy having lunch with Japanese guests utaite/Nico Nico Douga singer that-san, super amazing composer/guitarist Osamuraisan (who later blew our minds with his performance) and Vocaloid producer/composer Rerulili-san. that-san sang Just Be Friends upon being introduced to us, and later taught us some Japanese phrases. Hahah! And later that night we got to open a package and read a letter from our Indonesian friends. ♥

One of my favorite Japanese grocery finds :9
And as I posted this, my friend Dom sings to the tune of Soft Kitty:
“Soft cookie, warm cookie
Little ball of dough
Happy cookie sleepy cookie
Dough dough dough”

Anonymous asked: how do you keep your skin so clear and white? ouo please share your secrets >3<

My skin is far from ideal, but something people don’t expect from me is that I really enjoy skincare. It’s almost like a hobby for me. Hahah! I like reading about and trying out products to take care of my skin. My routine isn’t much of a secret — Cleanse, moisturize, always wear SPF (except to bed and stuff).

I’ve actually been preparing some relevant posts on this topic, to accompany our updated cosplay makeup tutorial. I’m just finishing up some big projects with fast approaching deadlines OTL right now so I haven’t been able to post much. Soon, hopefully!

Anonymous asked: Hi Jin, I'm a long time fan. I really love the dedication and passion you put into your work. If I have the money, time and friends, I'd do the same thing (cosplays etc) XD Btw, just a simple question: Is there a chance that you would be coming to AFA 12 in Malaysia next June? Thank you :D

Hello! Thank you for the appreciation, and I’m sure you’ll find your own thing :D (Cosplay was a bit of a surprise for me, truth be told!)

I had a fantastic time at AFA 11 in Singapore, and I would love to experience AFA in Malaysia too. However, my friends and I have never been there so planning that out is more difficult. We’re hoping to attend AFA in Singapore again, though. :)

Anonymous asked: hello, may i ask what photo editing program you are using for those recent pics and caption? thanks, long time fan.

I just used Photoshop, kind anon :) Then a pen tablet to write the captions manually.

Anonymous asked: do you use mac foundations? if you do, could you share with us what shade you use?

Hahah, I actually do. It’s great for photos. I use NC25 or NC20. :)

Anonymous asked: Hi Jin, I've been a fan of your cosplay for a long time and you inspired me to try and do it, too. Today I was able to go to my first convention, and I had prepared a cosplay. Sadly, all of my friends bailed on me at the last minute so since I spent so much money (ticket to the con + money & effort in my cosplay), I ended up going alone. I guess it was fun, but it just felt like something was missing & it ended up depressing me. What would you do in my situation?

Hi there! I’m so sorry to hear it didn’t go quite as you had hoped. :(

Perhaps they didn’t fully understand how important it was to you, for them to bail on you like that? If that had happened to me, I would have first talked to my friends. I’d say something like, “Hey guys, I’m not sure if you know but this means a lot to me. I spent a lot of effort to prepare for this, and I’d just really appreciate it if you could join me for this con because I think it would be more fun with you. :)” Just express it in a way that’s not too pushy or in a manner that would guilt them into doing it. They’re your friends after all, and it’s natural that you would like to share the experience with them.

But apart from that, a part of friendship is being able to talk to each other about stuff like that openly. If your friends have done something to upset you or make you sad, you have to let them know so you can work on it. Otherwise these little things will keep piling up and it’ll blow up on someone’s face one day. It’s difficult, but it’s worth it when you’re able to push through.

If it was unavoidable for them to miss it though (due to higher priority commitments like family or school or work) then I’d have done my best to enjoy it by myself. Last January I attended James Jean’s artist talk by myself because my friends were at work or school or out of the country. I didn’t want to miss out on something I was looking forward to just because nobody could accompany me. I ended up chatting and sketching with people there and making new friends and having an excellent time.

I can be incredibly shy sometimes (and perhaps socially awkward) but if I could do that, I’m sure you can too. :)
