Hokage cosplay, are we doin it right?
Hashirama totally nailed the monument look (as expected by the founder of Konoha), Tsunade and I are trying so hard not to laugh, and Tobirama is facing the wrong way HAHAH
The Third Hokage was being too much of a ninja so you can’t see him here, but we’ll get him next time!

What I wore to the Rurouni Kenshin movie premiere screening: my Hitokiri Battousai cosplay, based on the Tsuiokuhen OVA.
Miguel helped me with the scar. We wanted it to look fresh and painful, as if it was newly cut. We’re still improving the technique, but it was enough to make me wince at my own reflection at times, hahah.
I also wrote a post about my experience as Kenshin during the premiere (wherein people made me feel as if I starred in the film), as well as (non-spoiler) general impressions of the film: Click this to read it!

J.Co donuts! The hype around these is crazy nowadays. Always a great big line snaking around the store. There used to be hardly anyone when we’d hang out there around April.
They are great donuts, though! Somehow they aren’t as sickeningly sweet like other brands which make me want to give up my sweet tooth after a few bites. The oiliness also seems lighter. Some donuts make me feel like my brain is swimming around my skull after just one piece, but I don’t get that with J.Co, hahah.
I enjoy their selection of flavors. I got to try a lot by sharing a box of J.Pops with my friends, then getting the full-sized versions of the ones I liked best. I really like how the frosting flavors are actually distinct, and the consistency is very different from the usual grainy, sugary frosting of other donut joints. It feels like it’s white chocolate-based (I’m not very sure, but this is how I can best describe it) but it doesn’t turn dry and crumbly. It’s very smooth and milky.
My favorites are Heaven Berry (that pink one with a white swirl) and the Avocado DiCaprio (the green one sprinkled with brown). The pink frosting on Heaven Berry tastes like strawberry-flavored white chocolate; it’s got a tiny bit of tartness that makes it interesting. The Avocado DiCaprio is a combination of chocolate and avocado. It sounds like a weird combination, but the avocado part doesn’t exactly taste like real avocado anyway. Still good, though!
That’s it, I think. This isn’t really a proper review and I wasn’t asked to do this. I just like to talk about food.

While playing with lights and shadows during this shoot, we kept poking fun at the main metaphors of the series, going “It’s symbolic! LOLOL” (〜 ̄▽ ̄)〜

These candies gave me a burst of simple joy. Not just because they tasted good, it was also because of their classic look. Colorful graphics of the fruit they’re meant to taste like printed on wax paper (hooray for it not being plastic) that’s been twisted on two sides to make the traditional candy shape. I like how they didn’t feel the need to scream out the brand on the wrapper, or try too hard to look cool or modern. I don’t see stuff like this too often anymore.

Okay so, I think I should get back on my resolution to blog here more often. These are a few snapshots I took on my phone tonight, during a very fun workout session. It’s kind of funny how part of our motivation is just to be more healthy in general, but we also do it to prepare for certain cosplays. Pfffhahah. Go all out!!
Master Marko had me try some boxing basics with Gori- err, Melo (a.k.a. Maid Macho) to work out my arms. I am not as wussy as I expected myself to be? Yay ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ I enjoyed the drills but I still don’t think I have it in me to do actual sparring.
Then with Dom and Sam, the five of us went on to be the worst but most fun basketball club! We’ll get better! Maybe! Apart from reacquainting ourselves with dribbling, passing and shooting, we used the time to try out moves from anime to see if they really worked. They attempted Midorima’s half-court three-pointer just to see if it was even possible. Not an easy task, to say the least. But Melo got pretty close!
It felt good to be exhausted and sweaty. It’s like whoo, my body is not useless. We were all lying on the floor of the court by the end of it. And staring at a gecko somewhere on the ceiling.
Super fun! And then celebratory milk teas after!

I posted these on my Facebook page earlier (where I usually spontaneously post in small bursts just because it’s convenient from my phone) and as it usually happens, I got asked about my shoes. My white tabi trainers are from Japonista Sole! In the first photo, Dom’s black tabi are visible too. They’re awesome for training, they’re probably the most comfortable shoes I own, and hey they look cool, hahah!
I never particularly enjoyed playing basketball before, but I’m starting to now! Looking forward to our next basketball club night, hahah! ヽ(´ー`)ノ

Here are some snapshots I took of my friends in their Adventure Time costumes from Toycon ‘12 last weekend! Angelo was Finn, and Jessica was Princess Bubblegum :D
While we were taking a break at Starbucks, I dragged them to the pastry counter and asked Jessica to go like, “OH MY POOR CANDY PEOPLE” Hahaha! The baristas are always really nice to us and even asked for a photo after we got our shots. Good times.
